The President of the University has been working to bring some agreement between the faculty of the College of Medicine and university administrators when it comes to restructuring the college.
At a special meeting last week it was decided to reconsider a motion at their September 20th University Council meeting that deals with reforms of the College, which included three new divisions.
But since last week's meeting, the President brought together all the parties involved, and the agreement is now that a 16-member dean's advisory council will present an alternate plan at the December meeting instead.
Provost and vice-president academic, Brett Fairbairn, says the committee includes representation from all kinds of groups like students, residents, clinical department heads, other faculty, alumni, and health regions.
Their task is now to come up with a plan that fixes and research and accreditation issues and to restructure the College of Medicine to make sure its mission is accomplished.
